I understand a little HTML and CSS, but I'm no web designer, so for me this would be a rather epic undertaking. I was thinking of setting up a web page using IIS and then have that act as the interface for viewing content with dynamic pages that pull the data from a database or something. The issue comes down to creating the interface. My idea is to buy something like an HP Elitdesk 800 mini (older version G3 or so) and use this as the main media server. I'd like to set up a media server using just Windows. local access only, doesn't need to be accessible outside my LAN (I'd prefer it not to be, actually) must be accessible via Roku TV or Roku Media Player runs on Windows (not 100% necessary but would be nice) I also don't like the idea of signing in to a third party system just to watch my own media (seems kind of unnecessary). I can play the actual mkv file with no issues by accessing it directly from the M圜loud without using Plex. I currently have a M圜loud Home that I use with Plex and I find that Plex adds a lot of overhead which causes my movies to stutter and skip while playing. Not sure if this is the correct forum for this, so please move it if it's not.Īs the title states, I'd like to set up a personal media server on my home network. Hello, Ars!
